Alicia's Favorite Skincare Devices, How They Work and What They do to Benefit the Skin

Best Skincare devices

Ever wonder if those little devices really work? I am here to tell you that they do! Here are a few of my favorite must have tools for home. These tools, when you use consistently, will give accumulative results, these results are amazing on their own, however, I recommend using them in between your profession treatments.

Cold/Ice Roller:

This is one of my favorite tools to use during allergy season. I get really puffy and this helps reduce my puffiness. Also, this is a great pregame to any big event to help tighten up the skin! This can also help reduce inflammation in sore muscles. You can purchase a cold roller from my website directly.

Here is how it works. The cold temperatures causes shrinkage, so it helps reduce the appearance of pores, and has a lifting effect on the skin. There are many different reasons to use an ice roller like acne, redness, puffiness, inflammation etc. The benefits goes beyond the skin, penetrating deep into the muscular structure and blood vessels, helping with pain and discomfort.

LightStim- LED Light Therapy

LED works like this low-level-light therapy or photobiomodulation and is based on Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology and is the application of light energy to the body for therapeutic benefits. It promotes a natural photobiochemical reaction similar to the process of plant photosynthesis. The energy delivered by the LEDs has been shown to enhance cellular metabolism, accelerate the repair and replenishment of damaged skin cells, as well as stimulate the production of collagen — the foundation of healthy, smooth skin. Research has shown that LED light therapy may help smooth skin texture, improve skin firmness and resilience, increase lymphatic system activity, restore skin’s natural cellular activity, and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and superficial hyperpigmentation. The treatment is for all skin types, and is non-ablative, non-invasive, painless, and requires absolutely no downtime.

Skin Benefits :

LED light therapy offers a powerful yet gentle means for obtaining more beautiful skin. It gives you the opportunity to treat an array of skin concerns without chemicals, drugs, or invasive measures. The skin responds quickly and very positively to the different colors in the spectrum.

Anti-aging Benefits:

LED light therapy benefits tired, aging skin: it helps with the softening of lines, folds and wrinkles, healthier circulation, increased moisture and radiance, accelerated skin repair, improved elasticity and skin texture, as well as stimulating the collagen process, naturally.

Hyper-pigmentation:

Age spots, freckles, uneven pigmentation due to sun exposure. Most cases of skin hyper-pigmentation even out over time from the use of LED light therapy.

Acne and Blemishes:

LED light therapy can assist in the repair of acne and blemishes because it stimulates the skin’s natural healing process, and helps to kill the bacteria caused by acne.

NuFace

This at home tool uses soft wave micro-current technology (also known as Micro-current Electrical Neuromuscular Stimulation) and should be used with skincare regimens for five minutes every day.

The effect: According to their website, the NuFace is designed to mimic a facelift by tightening and lifting the skin. I personally love this technology and you’ve got to look at as it, as being a daily 5 minute work for your face!

What exactly is micro-current? Micro- current works in harmony with the body's natural electrical system to, increase circulation. Promote collagen and elastin production. Dramatically increase ATP (adenosine triphosphate).

You can purchase NuFace on their website www.NuFace.com.

Jade rollers

Skincare expert and facialists claim the main benefits of self-massage using a jade roller are that of “drainage”, by way of encouraging the lymphatic system's natural detoxification process, and “brightening” – by boosting the circulation and blood flow beneath the skin granting a visible glow.

Jade rollers are said to do everything from sculpting, toning, and firming skin to boosting circulation, enhancing glow, reducing puffiness, minimizing fine lines, improving elasticity, detoxifying, and helping skincare products penetrate better.

ClariSonic/Cleansing brushes

The claims are extremely impressive: that it removes six times more dirt, oil and makeup than regular cleansing; that it increases the absorption of your skincare topically; that it reduces the appearance of pores and wrinkles; and that it helps clear up dry patches and even acne.

Professionally, I have seen great results from having a through cleanse, I do recommend using it every other day to (1) Not over wash (yes there is such a this) and (2) You’ll notice the result better by doing it every other day then every day.

Ultrasonic

You might have seen those flat handle held devices that are being implemented in facials and at home to cleanse the skin, it is a high level sound wave technology is used to penetrate deep below the surface of the skin, promoting cellular renewal and repair, toning of muscles, increasing blood circulation, encouraging lymphatic drainage, and improving skin care product penetration.

How it works is that Ultrasonic devices feature vibrations of up to 30,000 Hz, which basically “jiggles” out impurities from the pores as it exfoliates the surface of your skin. It’s also designed to make your favorite skin care serums penetrate your skin more deeply for maximum absorption and effectiveness.

DermaWand

Sound like a magic wand and it just might create a little miracle. Radio frequency is used to tighten and rejuvenate the skin, similar to the NuFace, it is used to tone the skin and re-train facial muscles. Both help with collagen production differently. The DermaWand uses radio-wave frequency creating heat, NuFace uses Micro-current those tiny electrical currents; both forms can be complimentary to each other.
